Is Your Watermelon Bad?

Is Your Watermelon Bad?

I just purchased a watermelon that I bought from a local grocery store. I did all the things to make sure it was ok. But when we I cut it yesterday it was no good.
Watermelon has a long shelf life of about three to four weeks, but this is from the time it is harvested and distributed as well.
So how do you tell if a watermelon is bad? You really need to know as summer is the season for refreshing and nutritious fruits.
HERE ARE SOME SIGNS THAT YOU CAN TELL IF A WATERMELON IS BAD….
Sometimes spoiled watermelon looks and smells fine.
Tap The Watermelon…. and listen to the sound it produces. A deep hollow sound means the melon is good. ( I have always done this)
Smell….When you taste a melon, and the taste is sour, it has gone bad.
Looks…..You can check if a watermelon is bad when looking at the patch or ripe spot on its skin. If the patch is yellow, that is a good watermelon.
Weight….A good watermelon should be heavy.  Heavier water watermelons are sweeter and juicier.
Expiration Date….When you purchase a pre-cut watermelon, it will usually come with an expiration date. Make sure you check out the date.
Watermelon is super tasty, super nutritious, and super easy to grow. I have some growing in my garden right now.
Watermelons are delicious, and they are more nutritious than you might think.  This fruit even quenches your thirst.
Watermelon contains approximately 92% water, while the remaining 8% is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, lycopene, and amino acids, making it an excellent food.
So whether you’re eating watermelon for dessert or lunch, you’re sure to get plenty of health benefits.
