Homemade Peppermint Hot Chocolate Mix

Well another year has flown by, wasn’t it just January of 2023? We are busy at our house preparing for Christmas. Today I am going to share a recipe for Homemade Peppermint Hot Chocolate Mix. And with the weather getting chilly, this homemade hot chocolate mix is going to warm you up.

Hot chocolate was first brought to North America as early as the 17th century by the Dutch, but the first time colonists began selling hot chocolate was around 1755. 

Finally, in the 19th century, hot chocolate evolved to become the cherished drink which no snow day or coffee shop is complete without.

With only 5 ingredients…. Candy canes, dry milk, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and corn starch it is so easy to whip up a batch.

For those of you who love hot cocoa, lets welcome the Christmas season with a cup of tasty Peppermint Hot Cocoa. 

INGREDIENTS….

  • Cocoa Powder 
  • Powdered Sugar 
  • Dry milk powder 
  • Cornstarch
  • Candy Canes

If you are doing some snow activities like skiing, ice skating, or sledding with your family, have mugs and hot cocoa ready then you come in from the cold.

You really should make a BIG BATCH at the beginning of winter so you can use it throughout the cold season.

You can always add some more of the following toppings…..

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Regular Whipped Cream
  • Holiday Sprinkles

If you have been out shopping with all the crowds come home and make some Peppermint Hot Cocoa. Christmas shopping can wear a person out but a cup of this cocoa will make you feel so much better.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 6-oz finely crushed box candy canes
  • 2 1/2 cups  powdered milk
  • 1 cup  Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups  powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp corn starch

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients. Store in an air-tight container.
  • To make hot chocolate, combine ⅓ cup of mix with 1 cup hot water or warm milk.
