If using frozen berries, let them thaw slightly. Lightly mash them with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency.
In a large pot, combine the berries, sugar, lemon juice, and orange zest. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring often.
Stir in cinnamon (and pectin if using). Continue boiling for 10–15 minutes, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving ¼ inch of space at the top. Seal immediately in a water bath for 10 minutes. Rest at room temperature for 12 hours.
Let jars cool completely before labeling. Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or process in a water bath for long-term storage.
