🥚 How to Make Perfect Soft-Boiled Eggs

🥚 How to Make Perfect Soft-Boiled Eggs

When I was young my mom cooked all kinds of eggs. My dad loved over-easy eggs, my sister only ate scrambled eggs, and my favorite eggs were soft-boiled eggs. There is something magical about a perfectly soft-boiled egg. The whites are tender but set, while the yolk stays rich, golden, and just the right amount of runny.

Soft-boiled eggs can feel intimidating. Cook them too short, and you’ll end up with undercooked whites. Leave them too long, and you’ve got hard-boiled eggs.

But don’t be disappointed if you don’t get the result you want the first, second or even the third time.

Let Me Share A Few Tips for Success…..

  • Older eggs peel more easily, but very fresh eggs taste best.
  • Start with eggs straight from the fridge for the best results.
  • Use a slotted spoon to avoid cracking when lowering into the pot of boiling water.

Ingredients…..

  • Fresh eggs (as many as you’d like to cook)
  • Water
  • Optional: pinch of salt or splash of vinegar (helps prevent cracking)

There are many ways to enjoy a “soft boiled egg,” let me share a few.

  • Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and black pepper for a simple snack.
  • Place on buttered toast with avocado. (my favorite)
  • Add to salads or grain bowls for extra richness.

Once you try this method, soft-boiled eggs will become a kitchen staple. You will have a new go-to for busy mornings, cozy nights, and everything in between.
