A great way to cool down (especially if your lemonade is homemade!)  when summer hits and the hot weather is here this Homemade Old Fashioned Lemonade Recipe is such a classic.
All you need for the best lemonade are fresh lemons, water, sugar, and salt and a few minutes to make this thirst quenching drink. Perfect for any party or summer bbq.
Make this easy homemade lemonade a few hours ahead of time so it has time to be a cold refreshing drink. It is great for kid’s lemonade stands too!

Fresh lemon juice
Water
Sugar
Grated lemon zest

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 5 cups water, divided
  • 1 tbsp grated lemon zest
  • 1-3/4 cups lemon juice (about 10 large lemons)

Instructions
 

  • In a large saucepan, combine sugar, 1 cup water and lemon zest. Cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in lemon juice and remaining water; refrigerate until cold. Serve over ice.

Notes

To the most out of your lemons you can either soak the lemons in hot water for 10 minutes or put them in the microwave for 30 seconds.  This helps to release the lemon juice.
